Barbados has declared its commitment to green energy and the development of environmentally-friendly products and solutions which will boost export numbers, particularly in this period of declining tourism receipts.  As part of this thrust, Export Barbados (BIDC) in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has established BLOOM, the Caribbean’s first cleantech cluster.

The GEF-funded project in Barbados is a pilot for the Global BLOOM programme promoted by UNIDO, within the Global Network of Regional Sustainable Energy Centres (GN-SEC).  Information on BLOOM cluster and the recently-held awards ceremony can be found at https://www.unido.org/stories/cleantech-entrepreneurs-driving-green-recovery-barbados.
